The Parisian Civil War was a civil war that unfolded in Paris, with spillover into Oak Hills. The conflict was mainly a power-struggle between the two leaders of Paris, Norbert011 and raddicted. The cause of the war are several disputes and minor conflicts between Norbert and several other players that had been brewing over a longer period.
Being fed up with Norbert's rule over Paris and his several controversies, Raddicted declared himself to be the sole ruler over Paris and vowed to depose Norbert. CalmCreeper360 and 44cckw, both of which distrusted Norbert and had rivalries with him, supported Rad's cause and volunteered to fight alongside him on the battlefield.
The first shots of the war occurred in Western Metropolitan Paris, as Rad's Army preemptively attacked Norbert while inside of his house. This allowed Rad's Army to make several quick, significant gains against Norbert, though not for long. Rad's Army lost a permanent foothold on mainland Paris and Oak Hills after losing a major battle against Norbert, and had to reorganize their efforts at the Oil Rig. Although Rad's Army managed to discover a dupe stash located in the Nether, and used this to their full advantage, it was not enough to beat Norbert, who had begun using cheats in order to win the war. Both sides eventually laid down arms to stop the needless destruction and death, with an agreement being made between Norbert and Rad to uphold the current dual leader system.
The war is one of the single most bloodiest event in the server's history, and led to large damage on several buildings such as the Oil Rig and Paris Mansion. The conflict soured relations between players, and some relationships between players would never fully recover. Due to the large destruction of metropolitan Paris, as well as the political system of Paris being unchanged, the war has been considered needless, and as a phyrric victory for Norbert, in retrospect.
Prelude[edit]
Tensions Arise[edit]
The reasons for the Parisian Civil War erupting can be traced back to a significant event on the server: Norbert killing CalmCreeper and raddicted. The exact details surrounding the deaths are disputed by both parties. What is known, is that Norbert would kill CalmCreeper and attack raddicted. During this chaos, Norbert managed to steal Calm's items.
Rad, being fed up with Norbert's antics, proceeded to threaten Norbert with a stack of glowstone that he owed him. If Norbert did not return Calm's items; he would never give Norbert the glowstone back. 44cckw and raddicted also suggested that CalmCreeper and Norbert could duel at the Fencepost, Calm turned down the suggestion. Further tensions followed, and CalmCreeper threatened Norbert:

Fighting resumed between Norbert, Calm and Rad. To stop Norbert from killing them and stealing their items, 44cckw would controversially use /kill to murder Norbert. Raddicted proceeded to steal all of Norbert's dropped items as retaliation. Due to pretty much all players loosing their items, the server reloaded from backup.
With the server doing a rollback to restore player's items, 44cckw had hopefully ended the ongoing conflict on the server. However, raddicted would kill Norbert when he entered his house. Norbert would complain about this, citing that Raddicted was unnecessarily inciting more conflict on the server. Raddicted would, on the other hand, say that it was perfectly acceptable, as Norbert was trespassing on private property. Norbert did not take this lightly, and broke in and killed Raddicted inside of his home and stole his items in the process. In doing so, Norbert had created two mortal enemies on the server who wanted him brought to justice.
Norbert would go offline for the time being. While 44cckw was thinking about what to do, Calm took matters into his own hands.
Dog Massacre[edit]
As revenge for his previous murder and theft of items, CalmCreeper was on the war-path. With the help of 44cckw, he broke into Norbert's house and burned all of Norbert's dogs alive with lava.

This event in particular is one of the main contributing factors of the Parisian Civil War breaking out.
Gearing up for war[edit]
Raddicted and 44cckw quickly figured out that serious conflict would arise from Calm's massacre. With all three players being fed up with Norbert's antics, Rad made a plan to depose Norbert as ruler of Paris and gain full control himself. 44cckw and CalmCreeper threw in their support, and formed the rebel army that would later be unofficially termed "Rad's Army". 44cckw would supply the army with weapons and munitions, still having some diamond supplies left over from the Dupe War. Further materiel would be quickly acquired from the Spider Cave and the Skeleton farm inside the Paris Hole. 44cckw's Oil Rig was set up as a base of operations, due to it's location and being being easy to defend against attackers. All warps was rendered useless by covering them in obsidian.
War[edit]
Opening shots[edit]
As Rad's Army was gathering outside of the Spider Cave, Norbert logged on. The army at this point was well-equipped and ready to fight, and began planning what to do next. While this was happening, Norbert surprise-attacked the army from the North. Norbert would successfully kill Calm - having iron instead of diamond armor - but 44cckw would hit and kill Norbert in return. With Norbert respawning at his house, Rad's Army quickly moved to assault Norbert's house from the West. The attack was successful, as Norbert was caught off-guard and killed outside his home.
During the battle, it was discovered by Rad's Army that Norbert had begun using cheats, more specifically killaura. This made it significantly more difficult to attack Norbert, and Rad's Army went over to using ranged weapons. This did little damage, and some players didn't have enough arrows or even a bow. With Raddicted's Army crumbling, they fell back to the Oil Rig and began planning their next move.
Discovery of the Nether dupe stash[edit]
With Rad's Army in disarray after being destroyed by Norbert's cheats, Raddicted came up with the idea of using lava-buckets as a weapon. To gather the lava, Raddicted and 44cckw ventured into the Nether. However, the players found a lot more than just lava. Raddicted stumbled across a massive dupe stash. This was a massive morale-boost to the army, as the supply of dupe war-era diamonds that they had used previously was very small. Rad's Army would spend a significant time manually mining these duped diamond blocks, and gathered them at the Oil Rig. In total, they gathered approximately 3 stacks of diamond blocks, which was more than enough to craft serious weapons and armor for the entire army.

There is debate among the player base on who exactly created this dupe stash. The Nether was largely explored and mapped back in September and the dupe stash was not found then, so it is believed to have been created some time in October-November. While the first suspect was Revert, who had previously duped on the server a few weeks prior, many players doubted this. Revert himself would even go on record saying that the dupe was not committed by him, as he never duped anything other than iron and lapis blocks. It is most likely that this is a copycat crime committed by an unknown player on the server.
While this went down in the underworld, Norbert was preparing a counter-attack in the Overworld.
Assault and siege on the Oil Rig[edit]
Rad's Army lost their foothold on mainland Oak Hills and Paris after several raids on Calm's House by Norbert. The army fully regrouped at the Oil Rig. While they were busy crafting and managing more gear they would use, Norbert would use the massive tunnel-system underneath Paris to advance on the Oil Rig. As these tunnels was connected directly to the Oil Rig, Raddicted and CalmCreeper would pour lava down the stairs leading to the underground tunnels. This successfully halted Norbert's first attack, as he was unable to stop the massive flow of lava coming from above. With their current advantage, Raddicted planned to build a tower up to build limit and pour lava down onto Norbert's house. This wouldn't destroy his house due to fire-spread being disabled, but it would trap Norbert inside his house.
While Rad's Army was gathering the resources for this, Norbert had a trick up his sleeve; using his cheats, he would fly to the Oil Rig. This was a shocker and completely took Rad's Army by surprise. The previously thought impossible to penetrate Oil Rig was suddenly under attack by a flying player. With his killarura, Norbert would massacre Rad's Army stationed on the Oil Rig. It was impossible to kill him with lava buckets, and the supply of arrows was getting smaller. It didn't help either that Norbert would destroy the dead player's loot with fire and lava, meaning that Rad's Army would inevitably run out of resources. However, Raddicted had one final plan, and suggested it to 44cckw.
Worldedit and end of the conflict[edit]
With it being clear that there was no way for Rad's Army to win the war due to Norbert's cheats, they only had one option left to use: Worldedit. As 44cckw was a server operator, he had access to this powerful plugin. This could let 44cckw do unimaginable things, and it could rival the powers of Norbert. Using the plugin, 44cckw would delete Norbert's house from existence. This move brought the war to a quick end, and both parties of the conflict agreed to cease fighting to stop further damages.
All damages made during the war was reverted, and Norbert kept his ruling position in Paris, with Rad failing to depose him.
Aftermath[edit]
The conflict is an important piece of Paris history. It solidified Norbert's rule of Paris together with raddicted. Rad was allowed to keep his ruling position together with Norbert, even with his attempted coup, though the relationship between the two took a hit. Relations between Paris and Oak Hills was also soured, due to high-up Oak Hills citizens 44cckw and CalmCreeper360 supporting Raddicted's insurrection and coup-attempt. The war was at the time, the single-most deadliest conflict in the server's history. Due to the massive damages caused on the server; the loss of items, the massacre of Norbert's dogs and Norbert's house vanishing from existence, the server reloaded from backup.
While Norbert and Raddicted continued to be friends, the same could not be said for Nobert and CalmCreeper. Even though the server loaded a backup, meaning that Calm kept his items, he was still upset about the unjustified murder of him. He has vowed to take revenge on Norbert in some way, even though it could lead to another conflict in the future, which it eventually did. During EvilPoopMan's Reign over the server some weeks later, fighting between the two would continue to happen, meaning that the Reign and the June of Chaos is a direct consequence of this war.
