44cckw is the owner and creator of Betaonline. He first started the server in December 2021, but the server went public in March 2022.
Pre-Betaonline[edit]
44cckw first got the idea to run a Minecraft server back in November-December 2021. He first wanted to run a modern Minecraft server, but decided to create a Beta 1.7.3 server when he learned that there is still a large community of players who play old Minecraft. At this point in time, Betaonline went through many iterations. The server we know today would not be created until March 2022, and the current world was generated on 4 March 2022. A few days later on 6 March 2022, the server would go public for the first time.

Origins[edit]
44cckw would play on the server for a few days before making the server public. During this period, the Paris Hole and the Mac House would be built. StickyEXP would be the first player to join mere minutes after the server was announced on the Betacraft server listing. Other players such as Mope222, FinsCon and Norbert011 would join one day later on 7 March 2022.
The early days of the server was very chaotic. Plugins did not function correctly, and with the relatively large population of the server it was difficult to uphold laws. LWC, the server's first lock plugin, would break. This made it possible to steal from all chests. StickyEXP would abuse this, and was banned by 44cckw for stealing from Mope and griefing his Mudhole.
44cckw was originally going to build his house where Paris Mansion currently stands, but was forced to move due to Mope building his mudhole in the area. He together with FinC121, would start the town of Oak Hills right across the water.

Dupe War[edit]
44cckw would be one of the main contenders during the dupe wars. Due to him being the server owner, it was his responsibility to load backups, ban 46mm for the tenth time and locate dupe stashes.
First server decline[edit]
After the dupe wars, 44cckw decided that the server would create a whitelist. This was to prevent another dupe war or grief from occurring on the server again. However, this backfired on the server drastically. The server declined in popularity following March, and almost completely died in June-July 2022. 44cckw almost shut down the server during this time, but decided against it. During this time in the server's history, almost nothing happened; Virtually no new builds was constructed, and the server became a wasteland. Some players quit, while others just stopped playing during this time. This time in the server's history has since been dubbed the Dark Ages.
Server Revival[edit]
After managing to semi-revive the server in early August 2022, 44cckw decided to remove the whitelist on 25 August 2022 and re-integrate the building permission system that the server had previously. This turned out to be a good move, and the server began to attract a new player-base. Many new players such as CalmCreeper360, shigaduhshay, TriKhazan, dropier and many others would join the server in the following months and repopulate it again.
