I'd rather have the server be more open, than be restricted by plugins or whatnot. Due to our rather minarchist mindset, I feel it would be an overreach and would lose the fun-factor of being able to build pretty much wherever you want.
It is better for the server to have it be open, rather than be restricted by plugins or a [[Dark Age|whitelist]]. Due to the more minarchist mindset of the server, it would be an overreach to severely limit where the player can build or what they can build.

However, we do have plugins in place to rollback griefs and have special plugins and logs in place to detect griefers.
However, our server takes regular backups of the world. If we receive a ''significant grief'', I will rollback the server.

Oak Hills and Paris in shambles after 46mm's grief. The server restored from backup after this.

Betaonline defines griefing as the following:

  • Breaking blocks belonging to another player without that player's permission;
  • Adding blocks to another player's build without that player's permission.
  • Attacking or killing players unprovoked.

Griefing is illegal on the server, and will result in a permanent ban.

Examples[edit]

Here is some examples of what the server would count as griefing:

  • Breaking any blocks, even single blocks, intentionally placed by another player, e.g.:
    • Breaking signs;
    • Breaking paintings;
    • Breaking and subsequently replacing blocks in order to gain access to a locked building.
  • Destroying 'abandoned' buildings not owned by you without specific Admin permission, e.g.:
    • Creations owned by players who are now banned;
    • Creations built by players who have not been on the server for a while.
  • Breaking a block and then putting it back afterward, e.g.:
    • Removing and then replacing blocks not originally placed by you;
    • Removing blocks to allow access through walls, floors or ceilings and then replacing them.
  • Placing any blocks on or around another player's work that affect it undersirably, e.g.:
    • Blocking entrances;
    • Building in a town or around a town without the towns owner's permission.
  • Attacking players without justification, e.g.:
    • Randomly attacking or killing players;

Please note that this list is not complete. These are just some common examples.

What is not grief[edit]

Grief is not any of the following:

  • Stealing items from unlocked chests;
  • Entering houses of buildings with unlocked doors.
  • Attacking and killing players during arranged duels or minigames.

Why not use build protection?[edit]

It is better for the server to have it be open, rather than be restricted by plugins or a whitelist. Due to the more minarchist mindset of the server, it would be an overreach to severely limit where the player can build or what they can build.

However, we do have plugins in place to rollback griefs and have special plugins and logs in place to detect griefers.

What to do if you see someone griefing[edit]

If you see a player griefing somebody, or somebody griefs you, press the F2 button to take a screenshot immediately and report it in the #reports channel on Discord. You can directly contact 44cckw on our Discord for a fast reply.
