The mudhole is the most common name used for Mope222's house located in Paris. It is the first ever proper base constructed on the server by another player, other than 44cckw.

Although the mudhole looks primitive and simplistic in design, it houses a vast network of underground tunnels and rooms. It is known that the mudhole houses a rare block museum, a mushroom farm, among other miscellaneous recreational rooms. Access to the mudhole is severely limited, however. Mope rarely allows anyone to visit; even his closest friends.

Due to this, the mudhole has gained a legendary reputation among the Betaonline community. It is often cited as being one of the server's most fames and recognizable builds, and has constantly been the target of parodies and references.

The hut

Mr. Tree and Big D Gary

Mr. Tree and Big D Gary are two above-ground structures that are considered to be part of the mudhole. Mr. Tree was first constructed by Mope222 around the same time as the mudhole, though it has been destroyed and rebuilt many times throughout history. The current incarnation of Mr. Tree is the longest surviving one. The origins of Big D Gary on the other hand, is a bit more vague. It is unknown who constructed him, and its earliest known mention dates back to the middle of March 2022.

Origins

The mudhole first began construction on 7 March 2022, the same date Mope222 joined the server for the first time.

Mope was the second player to join the server. He joined on 7 March 2022 and would begin construction of the mudhole the very same day. He settled to build it around the Paris hole, as that's where the majority of activity occurred at the time. Construction began with him digging underground, and he later added the entrance of wood on the surface. StickyEXP would begin, for reasons unknown, to harass and grief Mope's hut on 8 March 2022. After several warnings from 44cckw, he would be banned.

Wemboz_1 built a very similar structure to that of Mope's mudhole, which has been referred to as Wemboz_1's mudhole in retrospect. This build was destroyed in early March to make space for the Paris Mansion. The mansion's planned size threatened to cut into the mudhole, and as such Mope agreed to move the hut (the entrance) a few blocks to the east, where it still stands today. During this time, the underground mushroom farm, lava pit and keyboard was constructed.

The pranks

FinsCon's pranks

FinsCon decided to prank Mope. He decided on 11 April 2022 to move the entrance of Mope's mudhole into Norbert's House while Mope was offline. Mope would move the entrance back to its original spot after he joined the server again.

On 30 August 2022, Mope would fall victim to yet another one of Fin's pranks. The entrance was once again moved from its original location into the Oil Rig. The hut was again moved back to its original location after Mope discovered this.

Hutapocalypse

Beginning in mid-September 2022, raddicted would start to build replicas of Mope's house all over betaonline. Mope's original house was not moved or damaged in any way.

Trivia

The term "Mudhole" was first coined by 44cckw on 11 March 2022.
FinsCon would construct a giant version of Mope's Hut in October 2022.
